Big day for Gray
Ryal Bush trainer Brett Gray has nine runners at Ascot Park tomorrow.
He talks to Bruce Stewart about their chances.
Race One: Party Up Denario (Lather Up) -Driver Brent Barclay
“She’s been racing well and I thought she went really good last week. She’s a good runner’s chance,” Gray said.
Race Two: High Return (Bettor’s Delight) – Driver Daniel Anderson jnr
“He’s a horse that’s still learning. This field is probably a little too good for him. He’s got the ability there, but he just hasn’t got the head in the right place.”
Race Three: Havtimefordiamonds (Art Major) – Driver Brad Williamson
“If she can run around and poke up in the first four, I’ll be rapt. She’s going out for a spell after this.”
Race Four: Blaze Lightening (Sweet Lou) – Driver Brent Barclay
“I really like this horse. He’s had a wee freshener and I’m really happy where he’s at, at the moment. I think he’s a real live chance.”
Race Five: Julie Jaccka (Father Patrick) - Driver Daniel Anderson jnr
“It’s not her favourite hunting ground for sure. It’s a short distance which she loves and it’s a mobile which she loves, so hopefully that may negate the track a little bit.”
Race Six: Crunchy Gal (Captain Crunch) - Driver Blair Orange
“She won a workout early on. If her gets the right trip I think she can get a bit of it. She’s a nice compact wee girl and has good manners.”
Race Six: Sando Denario (Downbytheseaside) - Driver Brent Barclay
“She’s a bigger athletic sort of horse. She had a cold a few weeks ago but I think we’ve got on top of it just in time. I really like her and the way she’s been working. I think she’s a good chance but I wish she’d drawn better.”
Race Seven: Jaccka Ace (Father Patrick) - Driver Brent Barclay
“I think he would have got money if he hadn’t galloped at his last start. He’s working well and he beat a good field when he last won. Invercargill is a hard track for him.”
Race Nine: Havtimewillfly (Art Major) - Driver Craig Ferguson
“I’m happy with this horse. She’s in the zone. This race wasn’t really on her radar but she’s just so well at the moment. Des Baynes’ one (Ebonezy) has been going great so it’ll be tough, but I think she’s a royal show.”
