WINTER MEETING - Day 1

Front: Trotters with no wins for lifetime. 20m: Horses with 1 or more wins for lifetime. For horses who were either (MR) non-win or 1-win at time of the 4th May 2024, and have raced at a Southern Harness Racing meeting at least once between 4th May 2024 and 15th June 2024. See special condition No.6
For R35 to R70 trotters. Front: R35 to R39. 10m: R40 to R50. 20m: R51 to R57. 30m: R58 to R63. 40m: R64 to R70. The winner will get a rating penalty free win if 4YO and older, and driven by a Junior Driver, and has not previously won a rating penalty free race this season. If sufficient nominations this race will be split on ratings/conditions, meaning a higher rating 1-win trotter may be included in the lower rated race. The stake for the lower rating race will be run for $10,000.
For R35 to R70 trotters. Front: R35 to R39. 10m: R40 to R50. 20m: R51 to R57. 30m: R58 to R63. 40m: R64 to R70. The winner will get a rating penalty free win if 4YO and older, and driven by a Junior Driver, and has not previously won a rating penalty free race this season. If sufficient nominations this race will be split on ratings/conditions, meaning a higher rating 1-win trotter may be included in the lower rated race. The stake for the lower rating race will be run for $10,000.
For 2-year-old pacers. Preferential Barrier Draw Based on: Winning Stakes using the track grid. If this race is not held those eligible horses will be transferred to other races and conditions changed.
For R35 to R60 3yo-&-older pacers. Also R61 to R65 if driven by a concession junior driver. This race will be split (if entries permit) by Ratings/Conditions, meaning a higher rating 1-win pacer may be included in a lower rating race. Preferential Barrier Draws will be used if deemed necessary by Ratings. The stake for the lowest rating race will be $10,000, middle race $11,500 and highest race $12,500.
For R35 to R60 3yo-&-older pacers. Also R61 to R65 if driven by a concession junior driver. For 3 yrs & older pacing fillies & mares with 1 to 2 wins for lifetime. Preferential Barrier Draw Based on: Winning Stakes using the track grid.
  1. NOMINATION


    A horse may only nominate for one race on the programme, the trainer has the right to transfer the horse if he/she wishes, and may advise the club at the time of nomination whether the horse is to be transferred or not.

  2. ORIGINAL NOMINATIONS


    In the event horses are transferred to another race from the trainer, selection preference will be given to original nominations received for that race.

  3. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO NOMINATORS


    Owners and Trainers are reminded that the club has the right to transfer any horse not selected to start in the race for which it was nominated to any other race on the programme for which it may be eligible. If you do not wish the Club to exercise its right to transfer a particular nominated horse then it is your responsibility as nominator to advise the Club of the same.

  4. SPLITTING FIELDS


    In the event any race or races are split on this Programme, unless specific in the individual race conditions, races will be split at the club's discretion, with consideration given to Ratings in the first instance.

  5. DUAL ACCEPTORS/NOMINATORS


    In the event that horses have gained a start at another meeting these horses are not guaranteed to gain a start at this meeting.

  6. GOLD CHIP FINAL


    For non-win (MR), or up to 1 win trotters for lifetime aged two years and older at the closing of nominations for the Wairio TC meeting held on Saturday 27th April 2024. Conditions: Open to all trotters aged two years and older that have never won a race (non-winners, MR), or have won one win for lifetime. 2. To be eligible to start in the Gold Chip Championship Trot a horse must start in at least one race or an open trot race run by Southern Harness Racing Clubs (Wairio TC, Riverton TC, Winton HRC and Invercargill HRC) and have its second win in the period from 27th May 2023 through to 17 June 2023 at a Southern Harness Racing Club meeting. 3. Field Selection for the Gold Chip Final will operate as follows: Most wins at during that period at a Southern Harness Racing club meeting, most 2nd during that period at a Southern Harness Racing club meeting, most 3rds during that period at a Southern Harness Racing club meeting, then club discretion. 4. The $15,000 Gold Chip Final will be raced over 2400m, from a standing start. Non-win (MR) horses will start off the front. R rated horses off a 20 metre handicap. 6. Horses that qualify for the Gold Chip Championship will be ineligible to compete in any other race at the Forbury Park TC meeting on 22nd June 2024. A horse can only win one Gold Chip Final.
